"Eggtopia" 10-19-08 update pg 8 The Girls are Inside...

Gotta love a HP fan!
wink.png

We haven't named our chickens, but will name our breeders when they are selected. In the house with other pets, we have Tonks, Crookshanks & Bella(trix) .. funny you haven't used those names yet!

All of my water birds are named after tv/cartoon/video game characters. I think it's about time I started naming my flock after HP characters. lol

bodyflight...actually there is a Bella and a Tonks...they are the BOs. The girls call them Betty & Betsy. LOL I did not ask them to change their wonderful paintings. Fay, Fran and Farrah are also wrong but they are kids so whatcha gonna do? hehehehehe

My solo partridge rock is Minerva. She acts very stern and regal like Prof. McGonnagal (sp?)

Whew...we are taking a break now. But we are getting there.

The Keep is coming together in Eggtopia and we now have the outside completely enclosed with OSB, the small window is in, a run door is being made and the support posts for the run fencing are concreted in place.

So, update pics...

The support poles for run fencing (which is being made of 9 gauge chain link, hardwire cloth and knowing these guys, probably concrete as well) The support poles are buried and concreted in 2 feet deep. LOL

a quick interior view showing the picture window area...the window going in is a 4' x 6', side slide window... a $20.00 yard sale find. Yay! Needless to say, there will be hardwire cloth on the outside as well as other protection devices.

That window gets tackled tomorrow, I hope. Whew!

So, I will update as more get finished.

Thank you. I have 32 girls that are going to live in there...it is 12 x 12. DD keeps saying she wants it to live in herself. When we would not give in to that (we want the girls out of the garage) she asked Dad to build her one too.

Hi! I'm new...I have to say that your coop is, (as my 16 year old daughter says), sssssssssweeeeet!!

I have always wanted to tackle building something like that myself - I'm envious!

Great job - I can't wait to see more pics as you progress. It looks like you're so close to being done!

)!<---that would make an excellent little cabin though.........

I am just now finishing a coop that is very similar to yours in size and shape and has some really neat windows too---but mine was a real pain to build as I used mostly all recycled wood and windows(pulling nails/staples) and it actually looks pretty 'ghetto' compared to yours and took quite a lot of extra time.......but I can say I did it for under $250
Great pics you have TOO!
Are you going to insulate and/or have power?
Will be looking for the updates on this wonderful coop!!

HAVE FUN!
