Eglu Cube

I have moved on from the idea of an Eglu Cube because of the recommendations here. We are now spending our time looking through various coop plans as well as some larger ready mades.

I am wondering if the Eglu Cube is ever an appropriate choice?

I guess it would be nice for a couple of chickens in a shady, fenced backyard in a mild climate. Though really, if someone wants a plastic coop, they can often get outgrown kids' playhouses for cheap or free by asking around or looking on Craiglslist.

imho.... i would build one bigger than you think you want because as soon as you get the 1st three you are gonna want the next 3 & your coop will be too small & you will have wished you went bigger the 1st time around

I am new here - still in the idea stage too. And with the economic times and money always being a factor, I am going to build a coop out of pallets. Here are two places that I have gotten inspiration from. Still planning the details, but I will post mine when I start.

Hope this might help others in their search for coops.

I had originally wanted something that I could move around, but I have come to realize that if I can move it then it probably isn't big enough.

What do you think of something like this? http://www.wholesalechickencoops.com/r2large.jpg

Some people down the street took one of these:

and connected it with a dog kennel like this:

and they move it around the yard every few days. The dog kennel has a few bars across the top for a tarp, and it is very tall- ?6 ft.
It might be not winter-hardy enough for you- but you could build something similar and put it on wheels.
