We can't tell if this is a rooster or not. 8 weeks old, unsexed by McMurray Murray hatchery and sent to us as a freebie. Not mean at all and very flighty, do not want us touching it. Thank you!

Dang!!! We are for now. So far he is not mean to the girls in the coop. But he wants to eat all the treats lol. (Grubbly meal worms which we have to switch to another brand when he gets older.Hello!
Yep, that’s definitely a cockerel. Are you planning on keeping him?
Also read that Egyptian Feyoumi hens will also crow.If it crows, it's a cockerel. Unless it is a pullet with hormones issues, which is very rare and definitely not in this case.
True, in most cases, especially at this age. I have a two-year-old hen that I just recently posted about (search thread: Anybody Else Have A Hen That Crows?) that has been crowing lately. She came back from my neighbor’s house with two chicks, and they (my neighbors) have many roosters. The only reason I can think of this happening is maybe because she’s been hearing them crow so much that she decided to chime in with them?If it crows, it's a cockerel. That is strange. Is it regular that an Egyptian Fayoumi hen will crow, or is it fairly rare?Dang!!! We are for now. So far he is not mean to the girls in the coop. But he wants to eat all the treats lol. (Grubbly meal worms which we have to switch to another brand when he gets older.

Dominant hens will crow and even mate when there is no rooster around and they have decided to take one's place. Do you have any roosters with your crowing hen?True, in most cases, especially at this age. Anyway, it is possible for hens to crow, but it is still pretty rare.

Yes, I do have other roosters around. In fact, I have too many and I am trying to rehome some. I currently have one “rooster” and six cockerels. But like I said, she was nesting at the neighbor’s house, and they have almost as many males as females. They mostly keep them in pairs in their own cages so they don’t fight.Dominant hens will crow and even mate when there is no rooster around and they have decided to take one's place.
