Hi there!

Our flock recently got tapeworms and our vet recommended Droncit as the best wormer for this but also said bayer/Elanco deworm for cats would work the same but is slightly cheaper.

We currently have the Elanco/bayer cat tapeworm dewormer.

It’s 23 mg of praziquantel

Our vet instructed half a pill for the hens 1.5 pounds and under and 1 full pill for hens 1.5 and up for bigger girls.

It’s also a one time dosing.

Is this dosing correct? It just seems high and I want to make sure the girls are dosed correctly and safely.

Thanks!

The dosage is correct for that product (it's at the minimum effective dose level for a 5 pound bird) but it should be repeated in 10 days to kill worms that hatch from the eggs that are still in their system and not killed by the first dewormer dose.
