Electric fence for dogs.

Yes. but then what happens when your dog runs through the fence on accident and then can't get back into the yard?
My dad has almost an acre of our yard fenced off for them and he put up an actual fence behind the electric wire so they can't run through it.
Why is 8000 volts too high? Is it dangerous?

Electric livestock fencing, properly set up, works very well. And that's a nice hot fence, should keep the dogs in and other critters out. Perfect!
You may try it once, but will be motivated to not touch it ever again...

Is 8000 volts on electric fence too high for golden retrievers?
Ours is close to 10k when it's working at its best. It is something they all tested once or twice and don't mess with again. I foget ours is on every so often and will get zapped and it's not dangerous just very startling and uncomfortable.
