Electric fence

I’ve read tons of post where the predator goes right through the fence even after being shocked. I’m not willing to take that risk and definitely not willing to spend tons $$$ for something rated for larger animals. A large (20-25lbs) male raccoon killed one of my girls and severely wounded three, leaving me the horrible task of putting them all down. I was able to trap him a week later and promptly dispatched him. We believe that this also was the coon that killed three of our chickens a few months earlier. Unfortunately, you can’t trap them all so I’m going with your design.

It stopped a raccoon the other day that was about 15 pounds. I found him laid across the hot wire dead and glad I had it on that night.

I have looked into the NEC codes to see if it is legal but it is protected with a 15 amp breaker. It can be easily removed if something happens and I need to call my insurance company.

I also checked our county’s rules and regulations on electric fencing and it’s very similar to yours. A breaker is required. Are you running the extension cord off a circuit from your house or did you purchase a 15 amp breaker and connected it to your electric fence?

I ran a 15 amp circuit out for my swimming pool and came off of it for my fence. So as of right now just my fence is on it because my pool is shut down.

To be completely honest...that statement about the raccoon that was fried on your fence turned me on to your system.

It made me really love it also I did not know it was that strong but I am glad that it is. I have a strand at the top for climbing critters and bottom for digging critters.

I ran a 15 amp circuit out for my swimming pool and came off of it for my fence. So as of right now just my fence is on it because my pool is shut down.

I’m thinking of running the extension cord from my house but on the outdoor circuit. I don’t see a problem with it unless you think that would be a bad choice?..

Only if it is GFCI protected because it might trip the GFCI if something gets on it because of how sensitive they are.

Needless to say I caught it in one of my live traps and had dispatch it with my .223 (I guess placing a round in its head was NOT the best choice...my run smelled like a pile of burning tires for a month). I guess the best way to dispose of them is to shoot them in the lungs so they don’t spray.

I think they spray no matter where you shoot them at when they die.
