I am having trouble getting the humidity and temp stabilize. First the temp was right, the humidity too low. Then it was temp too high and humidity too high. After, it was the temp too low and the humidity too lhigh. Now I am back to the first.

I still have some time to get it right. So far the temp is just a little above 102, and the humidity is at 59%. I added some war wet tissue and I am hoping this helps. I am so close and the eggs are ready to go in.

Back to the incubator to get it right!

I had to abandon ship on the skillet. I had the humidity and temp perfect until the eggs came in. It dropped to 97 and stayed.

I couldn't risk it so I placed the carton back in my LG.

Perhaps if I had a glass lid to the skillet itself, it would have worked. I will keep checking on you Farmer Kitty to see how it goes. I will try this again though. Its possible, but I can't risk anything this close to my hatch date.

Did you give it time to come up after you put the eggs in. The temp drops fast when you open the lid. It shouldn't have been the eggs themselves as they should be warm. My temps are doing okay and humidity is too.

Yes. I knew the temp would drop, and I waited for about 20 mins and it kept at 97. The humidity rose, but the temp didn't. I didn't want the eggs to cool down for fear of losing some chicks.

I will try this again, with a new batch so as to not put the little ones in jeopardy. I think its a great idea and it would work for sure as I was able to get the humidity and temp perfect. This late in the game though, its better not to take any risks. I will be sure to let you know the moment I do this again.

It took me a couple of days to get it but, then again I didn't have anyone to tell me not to move that dial enough to get it to turn on.

It's been a long time since I had used one and it was for food. That isn't quite so fussy on temps!

Not to stick my nose in here but if you measure the lid of the skillet and watch at ST Vincent De Paul/ Good will stores (if you have them) they sell just tops of all kinds and may just have a glass lid for you skillet for under a $ just a thought

championny- You could also try to put the other eggs into the skillet. You don't need the "window" except at hatch time.

That's true. In fact, since I am going to switch things around, I may put the Toulouse and Welsummers in the skillet, as I don't need to watch them yet and leave the Delawares in the LG.

Although, last night I had to toss two of the eggs (no development when opened) and 10 I am not sure about. I did on the brighter side have two very active little ones moving about so I am excited!
