**Electric skillet method-*Open for further questions-starting page 26

What day are you on Farmer Kitty? I just happened upon theis thread. I have an electric skillet and 2 crock pots!!!! I think I'm in trouble now!!!!!!!!! DH is definetly gonna think I'm "cracked"

Today is day 3-I put them in on Friday morning. I'm going to try to candle tomorrow night but, as this is my first time, I'm not expecting to see much. I'm sure that is one of those things that practice is probably needed. I will post finding when I candle.

I couldn't wait until tonight! I thew a heavy blanket over the window and shut the door and candled!

11 of the 12 I'm pretty sure have veins number 12 I'm not sure of. I marked it and left it in the bator. I'm really surprised but happy that I could tell. These are brown eggs from my girls and being a newbie at hatching I didn't think I would really be able to see anything yet!

Congrats.... so far so good!!

In another couple weeks you'll either have slow cooked chicken stew or babies!!!

LOL.

Very cool contraption.
Congrats on your candling.

Though my Lone Ranger is in my home-made 'bator and is due any hour now...(I HOPE), I have 15 eggs incubating in the LG.

They are a mix of bantams: Araucana, Japanese, Sebright, Cochins, OEG, and a Sumatra (Possibly).
It looks as all 15 have veins!!! (Day 6)

I candled number 12 this morning while it was still dark. It has veins! So all twelve are fertile and developing. Now to get them to hatching!

I don't know about wiring a dimmer on it (different guage wiring for the heat appliance) you could try a reostat from the hardware store.
