Who else remembers "logic puzzles," where we had to figure out the relationships between objects and extrapolate? (You know, actually teaching kids how to think!)
For example:
Toes are to feet as fingers are to hands ...
or ... Cold is to Winter as Hot is to Summer
Well, Chainsaws are to big boys as LEGOS are to little ones.

I can tell you that isn't true for me. I hate chainsaws. They smell horrible.

I'll just say that God is full of grace toward men with chainsaws.

…..and women with chainsaws, too. My great aunt hired a lawn/tree service to do some work. They proceeded to leave some limbs of which she didn’t approve. The young man stated that he was finished with the job, to which my little great aunt replied, “then hand me that chainsaw”. Up the ladder she went……at 86. I kid you not.

Mr. Green lives in the yellow house.
Mr. Black lives in brown house.
No one lives in the house the same color as his name.
etc.
Who lives where and in what color house?

I just made that up, but I had a puzzle like that, with a few more clues. I really enjoyed figuring those out when I was in high school.

I remember getting logic puzzles the teacher called mind benders in 5th grade. She would write them on the board and give the class a set amount of time to solve. Also, we had sequence puzzles. There were number puzzles or word association puzzles. Good stuff!!! It was fun, but taught analytical and logical thinking.
