You go Farmer Kitty !!!!!!

Best of luck and keep us posted !!!!!

P.S. Hygrometers are giving me more trouble than anything.
They are contrary little beasts....
I'm still on a hunt for accurate ones.

Susan, you can check one this way:
1. You can calibrate a hygrometer by mixing in a bowl 1/2 cup of salt in 1/4 cup water.
2.Place bowl inside a zip lock baggie with your hygrometer. After at least 8 hours, your hygrometer should read 75%.
3. If it says, for example 80% you know that it is reading 5% to high and then you can make adjustments in your readings.

And when I checked with Speckledhen she said it is more a matter of making a wet sand like mixture than the actual amounts-

I had to go into our local hardware store for fuses and they had chicks chirping. The only deal with customers orders and not having them on hand or I may have come home with some!

It's just to bad the new fuses didn't cure the problem. DH will have to take a look at it when he gets home tonight!

Thanks, Kitty. I tried that with THREE hygrometers all in the same bag, and not one of them registered over 62%.

Yesterday, however, I tried again with one of them and changed the salt mix so that it really was just damp salt, and I think that has made the difference. That one tested at 73%. Now I'm retesting the other ones.

Meanwhile, I think I'm gonna spring for one of the GFQ wet-bulb ones for the sake of my future sanity.

How are your eggies doing?

Susan

Temps and Humdity are looking good. Now it's just wait and see. I had to move them as they were on the circuit that went. Sometimes these old houses are full of surprises!

Temps and humidity are holding good.
I've collected eggs for the next hatch and wanted to put them in the other skillet I have but it seems that it's temps drop way down (I've seen 70) before it kicks in. It's still running and will see for sure how it is doing. We have to do a parts run today so I will watch for more garage sales! I wanted to put tomorrow so they would hatch over a weekend. My oldest DD is in school and of course wants to see them hatch.

Oh yeah, the electrical problem yesterday turns out to be the outlet!

Good Morning Kitty/All
I think our electric pans work good because the lids are heavy being made of glass and seal better than the old fashioned metal ones would.
The new ones are not that expensive either, I will buy another new one just like this one I have if it works....I believe it was in the 20+ to buy new....may pay to call around first for prices.
Unless of coarse they have a newer model at a garage sale!
Hope you find one!!

You are right they aren't that expensive and being non-stick they should cleanup easier. The second one I have is for backup. Once the eggs I have in the new one hatch it will be cleanup and move these over! The second one is holding better now. Maybe it was just the first startup reading I saw. Just need to get it adjusted to temp.
