Electrical outlets and chicken safety

First thing you need to do is find out what the code requires.I have placed elec.outlets in my coop and I have no child safety gadgets.I have put in water proof outside boxes with the water proof covers.I placed a GFCI out let in the first box to shut down if any moisture is detected.This makes it water proof and makes it so that the chickens can't get the recpticles.This also keeps the dust and trash off of the back of the recpticles.I feel that it is a waste of money,energy.and time worrying about child proofing them.The covers automatically shut when recpticle is not being used.Good Luck

Our electric outlets inside the coop are about 5 ft up, the outside outlet is a covered thingy made for outdors.

I recommend GFCI outlets with flip covers. (I prefer the kind with heavy covers for each outlet).

Codes? What codes? Nobody around here that's gonna care how I wire my coop! Hah! Freedom in the last frontier.....

But I still will use a GFI outlet.
