Anyone have experience with elevated liver enzymes? I know someone who has had four sets of blood tests to find cause and the tests have ruled out celiac disease, meds, hepatitus, and now this person is scheduled for an ultrasound of liver to look for tumor or cirhosis..

I am puzzled,,,,any one else have similar situation?

Interesting...because mine have been elevated for a month now too.
I'm having an ultrasound on Monday morning of my liver and gall bladder...

I hope it's not cirrhosis in my case, I haven't had a drop in over 20 years.

My oldest sister did and they said sometimes it can be caused my cancer.

She under went a full hysterectomy because she had masses... turns out they were cysts, one chocolate cyst, and fibroid finger looking things that were attaching to everything. None were cancerous. She has fully recovered.

They only found my fatty liver disease (NASH) by opening me up and looking. I had tests done earlier that came back normal in all ways. Now that I am losing the weight with lap band, we are hoping my liver will leach the fat and return to normal. Good luck with your tests and results.

My husband's was high for awhile also and they couldn't really figure out was the cause was.
I put him on some herbs like Milk Thistle, Dandelion and some others ( the health food stores have these or special combo formulas). That was the only thing that worked. We noticed an improvement at about 4 weeks then they were back to normal by about 4 months later. I hope the tests are all OK.

My enzymes were off last year , ultrasound showed a polyp in the gall bladder duct , took out the gall bladdeer and all is normal now.

Liver enzymes can tell that something is wrong but it does not mean that it is always something serious. After all the liver is our bodies garbage disposal and it gets all the junk dumped in it.
