Ellie - 9/25 Update - Egg! Thread has med info in case helps others

JJ,
Yeah! So happy to hear she is doing better. That's great news. Thank you for letting us know how she's doing. I bet BJ is glad to have her back in good spirits. Take care.

Thank you Brenda, Ginny, Jean, Jill!! Your good wishes are such a gift!

Ellie laid another egg today, 2 days after the last one. Her comb is a nice vibrant red now. It was more of a dullish red (tho not pale exactly) when she arrived here in July - now I wonder if something was brewing all that time then finally hit her hard on Labor Day....(until Labor Day I had thought maybe it was normal for her/her breed particularly since she was showing no symptoms of being ill but turns out a nice cherry red is indeed possible!).

She's growing in her new feathers. BJ is STILL molting and he started way back in May or June - pretty strange - I've been wondering if his body is losing it's ability to restore, given his age - but on the other hand, his poop is the best it's ever looked! (oh the things we chicken people beam over).

Thanks for the thoughts on egg withdrawal time...

Ginny, I'm so glad your girl is doing better!

Jill, I am just starting to get my voice back!! The strangest virus - approximately 3 weeks of laryngitis. I was able to squeak out some words, but then would cough for hours on end afterward so I've been trying to keep my trap shut till the vocal chords heal (presuming that they do...).

Hope things are good with each of your feathered friends

Thanks for the update jj. I may be way off base but BJ has had a rough few months here with the molt and losing his girl and getting another girl just to have her fall ill. If he is like most men the must fix it syndrome would put tons of stress on him and could be why he is taking longer to molt.

Now that Ellie is on the mend I sure hope his molt will be easier.

Keeping you all in my prayers. And thanks for sharing with us
