Ellie's Flock!

Future Flock Plans/ Updates

So, finally, this winter I have decided to try DLM or deep litter method. I really wonder why I haven't tried this before. I also want to get those plastic sheets that cover the coop, it might decrease the little scuffles in the coop. Today, I didn't get anything done but just rake the leaves (the never-ending, endless leaves), so perhaps next week I can try to build the roof. Sigh.

Thanks yall!
Yes, we do get so hot and humid... and that’s most of the time but my set up has worked pretty well this summer. It didn’t seem to have any ventilation issues. I do a semi-deep litter method... I scoop out the poop that’s all piled up and then mix around what’s left and add a little more.. I’ll do that about every one to two weeks depending.

Top Chicken of the Week!
and that goes to... *drumroll*
FELICITY!

Felicity, a 10-month-old EE pullet, has shown me to be a very winter hardy bird by still laying despite the colder weather. As in, the only layer of 12. The others are pure slackers right now. Congrats, Felicity!

Tomorrow, I'll share some of my little photoshoots with them. I got a fail as well, and some running nuggets in action xD
