Emercency! Need responses now!

Yes, we wormed the entire flock of chicks. She's really bad though. AS far as housing goes, it's a huge coop, with a tin roof over the area where they sleep and lay their eggs. It's completely closed in on the inside. We have wire walls on the outside, with some shade screen over one area so they don't become to hot. WE layed the floor with sand, it used to be dirt but we get rasin nearly everyday and it was flooding to 3 to 5 inches, and the sand holds water better. They live in clean pens, with good food and care. Half of the coop (I believe the dimensions are 17 ft X20 ft X6 ft high) is completely covered, insulated and roofed. no water gets in there when its not flooded and they alwaysd have a place they can stay and be dry. They can eat grass and things that grow from the outside and come through the wire walls ouside. Could she have gotten something that way? She's barely breathing now. Gosh, this sucks. Has anybody else every expirienced so many problems?

Thank you everbody. WE're trying, it just came on so fast. She wouldn't even take the water my mom was trying to give her. Thank you all so much though, I greatly appreciate your kindness and taking your time to help my family and I out.

She probably didn't get it from grass growing through the wire - they probably keep it pretty short? If they ran out of food she could have eaten feathers or some other fibrous , material like straw or something?

And on another note it is important to make sure wild birds aren't able to get in the pen or else they will eat, hop around in and poop in your chicken's food. That can spread disease.

Has she ever laid an egg before? Sometimes when they get an egg coming down the shoot, it can pinch nerves. i found one silkie hen of mine walking wobbly one morning. Brought her inside and she fell over, with brown liquid coming out of her mouth. i rushed her to the vet where she passed an egg, then she was back to normal. Anyhow, that's just one story and may not apply to your girl.

i'm a little concerned that you said your chickens have had lice, leg mites, worms, Coxcidiosious, and colds, and you've only been doing this for 2 or 3 months. That's a lot of stuff in such a short amount of time. i'm especially worried that you mentioned them having colds, because chickens don't get colds, they get respiratory infections and some of them are pretty dangerous.

Let me ask you, you said she had labored breathing. Is she just breathing hard or are there sounds, like raspy or gurgley noises when she breaths?

WE always have food available to them, and nothing can get into the coop. I am not kidding you when I say my dad built it to withstand Strong Hurricanes. Nothing has the availability to enter and contaminate anything. I just don't know what to do. With all the rain and heat, is it possible she got bitten by a mosquito and that transferred something to her? It literally onset in less than 24 hours. Like I said, she was fine last night, and then she was just in the dumps.

She's never laid an egg before, but I'm not sure if she's old enough yet. And yes, we are aware that is a lot for such a short time. WE have been in and out of the vet multiple times. The doctor must think we're crazy. But she is not making any noises, just labored breathing. almost shallow. AAnd I apologize, they were respitory infecions, not colds. I'm just so used to saying I have a cold when I have issues liek that, so I applied it to the chickens. We lost 3 or 4 little ones when they were only maybe 3 wks old, but we've heard that was normal.

Can you examine her vent, under her wings and everywhere to make sure she doesn't have maggots on her?

My mom did some more research and now believes it is Botulism. The color of the fluid from her beak was more of a "nuke-white" as the forum described it. Evidently, she has too much bacteria in her and is in the coma stage, soon to be followed by respitory failure and then death. If she's in the coma, we've read there is nothing you can do but wait. Can't believe we're losing another... Thank you to everybody though. My family and I greatly appreciate all of your input. Thanks you all so much for all the help.
