I would stick to scrambled or hard bioled yolks mixed in the food you are handfeeding. I do not know anything about chickens and goat milk sorry. Do you have hand feeding formula left? If so you can nixed a piece of cooked egg yolk to herformula and get the lumps out so it doesnt clog the feeding seringe, keep what you do not use from the cooked yolk in the frige. If you offer her eggs to pick at make sure you remove it befor it goes bad. She sounds like she maybe getting srronger if she is playing with her food. I wish you well with her and I hope your hard work pays off with her. One of my chicks was sick and my husband said no vet you can buy a new one for a couple bucks, he asked me if I lost my mind. He forgot how attachted I am to my feather friends. She is ok now but I was also lucky. I wish you the same luck I had and more. If you have any questions on hand feeding I can help. So please post message me so I get it right away. Just so you know I have added baby food to handfeeding mixture like meat and karo syrup for energy and pedialyte for electrolites as well as cuttle bone scraped so it is powdered for calcium so let me know if I can help. I know it sounds odd but it worked. I have you and your egly in my prayers. She seemed to be doing a bit better, last night after her feeding and medications, she actually started to peck at the dried crumbles but didnt actually eat. Her beak is starting to curve.
she is due for her meds and food, we (husband & I) made a choice, to just take care of her with what we have and see if she pulls through, I love her dearly but I dont have a job to afford to pay for the vet bills.
I have more "poop" pictures, I dont know what the pictures would show.
She seems to stay awake more, I was curious. If she gets "pepped up" with food and meds, last night was 16 mls. plus food, if I gave her 8ml every other hour would that make things better?
I personally dont know how much chickens eat, I have to make some cheese later, I have to much milk in the fridge from my goats. Could I give her some of that milk to add to the caloric intake?
very happy to hear thatWe are pushing, her poops turned NORMAL today!!! instead of formula green. Eggly is more responsive, still a bit on the "resting side" but she is walking around a bit more, last night made me happy seeing her trying to peck and eat, even though it was like she forgot how to.![]()
FANTASTIC YEAH!!!! I am so happy she is doing well.![]()
Hello everyone, I am sorry to say that I didnt take her to the vet when I was suppose to because she didnt look like she was actually making it, I actually called the vet to tell them she died.
I would like to post the videos of her, is that possible??? dont mind me yapping at the hubby for opening the door and hitting the brooder, but I know ya'll would love to see her improvements.
***STRANGE UPDATE***
e
Two days ago I was drinking because I was sad that she wasnt improving and we still had to tube feed her, I changed up the food with some egg yoke and some tiny bits of white, 3 ccs of poultry cell and her medications still that she got from the vet, plus some fresh goats milk from my Ms.Clover.
I got hungry and opened up my last can from canada, it was Lobster pate. I was eating and looking at the brooder and said " if she is going to die, might as well let her try some lobster".
she actually ate it on her own with a little assistance with me merely putting it in her beak, she "nibbled" and SWALLOWED IT! I dont recall how much I gave her, I mean the pate was a expensive gift from my hubby.
I personally think it kinda kick started her system, because the next day I woke up to some fluttering sounds and little peep peeps from her, to my surprise she was EATING her chicken starter crumbles ON HER OWN!!!![]()
We were still worried because we didnt see her drink water, so I grabbed my glass of water and looked right at her and said " You just ate all the food on your own now drink some water silly thing" and took a drink of my water, I dont know if this was "chicken see, monkey do" BUT SHE DID IT!!! then went right back to food.
She has been eating WHOLE grubs from her bug medley, and I just havent seen her drink, but I will be taking more pictures and probably going out to find more lobster pate, because if she eats that and loves it - I DONT CARE!
I am currently uploading the videos to youtube, I will be sharing them here once they are done so people can see her.FANTASTIC YEAH!!!! I am so happy she is doing well.
