Emergency! Babies in storm drain! Update: They are safe!

Pics
Just stumbled upon this thread, had to dig drainage ditches all day to divert some of the rain-water from the house…
@texas75563 @Raenh you are heroes! - Call KHOU and tell the story, they will force the hospital to secure those storm drains. I know how large those openings are!
Unbelievable that none of the so called »first responders« were willing to help. We had a puppy fallen into a stormdrain on my street and the fire-department was there in minutes!
Please keep us updated on the little ones.
@Raenh was the water "clean" in that stormdrain? I have seen oil and other nasty stuff in those, hopefully the little duckies have not swallowed something bad or toxic.

Well let me know when they get old enough if you want to return them to the wild. I have a pond I can put them on but they would be on their own.
Raenh wants them back when she gets a place to live. I really don’t have a backup plan at this point so thanks for the offer.

I took @Jpat idea of using the shopvac - I found an outlet at the pond/fountain, went home, got my extension cords, small vac, and all my wands, I lost two wands down in the storm grate but I got all five babies out.

@Texag87 says they're only about 3 days old!
I couldn't put the hardware cloth on, but did ask the guard to ask them to put some over it, so it doesn't happen again.
Yay! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
