Bird eat a lot at once naturally - they gobble loads to then store it in their crop, which is just a holding area which can then trickle food down gradually through the digestive system. Sometimes they just gobble too much and it takes them a while to process it, but at least you noticed and were worried, I think that shows you are a good owner
