Yes, be patient. The best thing you can do for your hen is to make sure she's comfortable as possible, has her sugar water, and then leave her to rest in a dimly lit room by herself. Stress is the worst enemy in a case like this.

Thank you that's my plan. Will stay with her in steam bath to make sure she doesn't overheat/expels egg. Will be back in an hour-ish or so if egg doesn't pass. I found hen in this condition around noon today, & have accomplished nothing other than trying to help her expel the egg.

Well. Egg is still stuck and muscle contractions have stopped. I've dipped her beak in the sugar water several times. She drank but didn't seem overly thirsty. She "appears" to be resting comfortably, even though no way could her situation be comfortable.

The hour is late, and it's been a long stressful unproductive day. I will check back one more time tonight in case anyone out there is still awake. I don't know what else to do other than again try to manually manipulate the egg out tomorrow morn, even though I've already twice tried that and was unsuccessful.

Does her vent appear swollen? If so, some cortisone cream on it might help reduce swelling and make it easier for the egg to pass.

Very swollen vent but no muscle contractions here.

Photo taken after second calcium tablet when she was pushing hard to expel egg. Im back to thinking egg is too big to push out. I second-guessed myself since I could reach finger in behind egg, but now i don't kno

I have 1% hydrocortisone creme and preparationH. Will either work? If not I ll go see what else I can find. How do I administer? Outside vent?, inside vent? etc.
