No, but I do know avocado is very bad for them, please don't ever feed it to them! I know people who did and their chickens died from it.

We didn't feed them the avocadoes. It's just that we have a tree and the chickens roam freely and then we just saw an avocado fruit on the ground being partly eaten. We don't know if they ate them. :(

My rooster is only 5 months old and I'm not sure what to do about his comb. Please help I'm new at raising chickens.

Hi! I'm glad I found this thread. Last week one of our older chickens (about 3 or so) suddenly became very lethargic and was laying down most of the time and shaking her head a lot. We removed her from the flock and gave her Rooster Booster. She never got any better and passed away within a couple of days. Now we have another chicken exhibiting symptoms. She seems lethargic and is only opening her eyes halfway. She is about a year and a half old. Any ideas what it could be or what we should try? Thanks for any info you could provide.

I'm sorry for your loss.

How old is the one that is currently ill?
How is your weather - hot, cold?
Is she is old enough to lay eggs, when was the last time she laid an egg?
Have you added any new chickens within the last 30days?
What does her poop look like?

Check her over for any parasites (lice/mites), feel her abdomen for fullness/bloat, check her breath and crop for any indication of sour/impacted crop.

It's very hard to know what's going on with her, if you have vet care that would be best.
Do your best to keep her hydrated, offer some poultry vitamins in her water.

Let us know how she is doing.

She actually seems to be getting better. We've put vitamins and apple cider in her water. We are also going to treat for mites just in case.

Please help! What is the best treatment for lice. One of my hens hasn't been acting quite right. Today when I picked her up she had lost weight. She is a little lethargic, her eyes are droopy, and her appetite is next to nothing. She is normally a chunky girl and she was light as a feather. I immediately searched her body for parasites and she looked good up top, but sure enough down by her legs she has small golden ( she is a buff orpington) parasites. I think that they are lice. I have put her in quarantine, even though I know I am going to have to probably treat the whole flock. No one else is showing signs of sickness. She is a delightful bird, my sons favorite. I pulled off as manu as I could by hand...what now?

Hello we are new to chickens and our 5 sweet hens are 16 weeks old and yesterday we noticed some slightly loose stools that were red in color. After researching I was concerned about coccidosis so I bought liquid corid 9.6% and put 9.5 ml in one gallon to be safe. However I do not know if I need to do this 1- they are happy energetic selfs, no other symptoms. Not sure which ones have the red stool can't catch any in the act but we found stool and just watery red spots in their yard. I wanted to act fast just in case. Last night we noticed some red berries falling from a tree and now I am wondering if redness and loose stools is just from berries? Should I continue corid to make sure? And I believe after internet research 5 days is the length of treatment?

Thanks for any advice.
