Please help ASAP
My rooster has collapsed. it's 102 degrees here today.
He is wheezing. I don't know how to cool him off or make him drink.

PLEASE give me info ASAP

If it is heat stroke, you need to cool him off and get some fluids in him. Either bring him in to the ac or put some cold water in a bag next to him. You don't want to cool him off too quickly. I don't really know what else to say, I just *think* that's how they do it with humans with heat stroke....Good luck, sorry I can't help more!

thank you. I have brought him into the house and have laid him in the bathtub with a pan of water next to him. He's lifting his head but still breathing very heavily. I'm not sure what else to do.

he needs electrolytes....definately try to get some fluids into him. It was about 102 here, and my chickens were fine....Did he go without water/shade for a period of time??? Are all your other chickens okay???

I used to give my cockatiel red Gatorade right after we came home from the vets office. The vet would hold him in a towel to work on him, so he'd get quite hot and droopy.
If you have an eye dropper, turkey baster, or medicine syringe, you could try giving him cool liquid that way.
May I suggest soaking your roos feet in cool water? That may bring his body temp down.

Good luck!!!

I found him collapsed by the water trough. All the other chickens (7) are fine. They have numerous shaddy areas. and 2 watering troughs. They aer in with 2 goats which are fine also.I don't know what happened.

I am pouring water on his feet but have no idea how to get him to drink water. just open his beak and pour? use a dropper? ???
