1) What type of bird , age and weight.
Silkie pullet, about 6 mo. old. Weight is very light, maybe two pounds?
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
She is almost dead, not moving. He vent is caked with white pasty poo, which was not there yesterday.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Since this morning?
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
Not yet. Everyone else is healthy and happy.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
Nothing.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
I'm not sure.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
She is neither eating or drinking, as she doesnt even have the strength to open her beak.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
White and pasty, caked all over her vent. A few spots of black.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Separated from the other birds.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
She is almost dead, she will die very soon, but i want to know what it is and if its contagious?
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
My dad took the ca,era with him on his trip, so no pics.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Large, 10x9x4 pen. Clean pine shavings in the nest boxes, changed every week (last change was yesterday morning)

Sorry to hear . Being a new fancier , the best advice I could give is to take to a vet and have them do an autopsy . If you decide to do that you need to refrigerate the bird until you can get it to a vet . Are any of your other birds presenting any symptoms ?

Was she laying age, and when did she lay last? Maybe she was egg bound, I lost a hen to that. It was so sudden I didn't get a chance to do anything. Sorry about your chicken:-(

She just started laying, a few days ago. The eggs were very small, like pigeon eggs, but maybe that was it. What are he other symptoms for being egg bound?
