EMERGENCY VERY INFECTED VENT

@granny hatchet, I didn't mean sugar eaten in food coagulates blood, but sugar sprinkled on a bleeding cut will stop the bleeding just as corn starch does.
Well I just wasted those 6 cookies ! hahaha I knew what you meant , just wondered if it worked on human skin which thinking about it now was a pretty stupid question from me. It either works or it dont . Doesnt matter what type of skin I wouldnt think.

Quick update, Cleopatra is still doing well. She is very alert and eating and drinking normally and I think she has even gained a little weight. I ordered the recommended antibiotic Baytril online a few days ago and it is going to arrive today. I have been debriding little by little and trying not to stress her out too much. The infection has not spread at all or gotten any worse since I have started treatment, underneath the black chunks that looked like scabs was red tissue which has healed well and has not gotten infected. I know the treatment isn't nearly done but I wanted to thank you all for all your help! I don't think she would have made it this far if it wasn't for you guys.

Alright I have another medical mystery for you guys. I have a young hen who has always been very skittish so I never can pick her up, but I was watching her peck at the ground and she was acting like she was dizzy so I went to pick her up and she let me (which she has never let me do before) and she is like skin and bones, and her crop feels like a water balloon. So I googled it and it sounds like sour crop so I massage it for around an hour and it didn’t get any smaller, she did burp a little but nothing would come out of her mouth. I even tried to hold her upside down and massage it to get her to throw up but nothing would come out at all. I have her some apple cider vinegar in her water and she tried to eat some bread. I am out of town right now but my Grandma says she is weaker and is laying down. Does anyone have any idea what to do? Also I swear I’m not a bad chicken owner, the chickens are at my grandmas house who lives down the road and I try to get over there at least one during the school week and at least twice on the weekends when I can. I have been going over to my grandmas on school days for the last 5 or so days since I found out Cleopatra was sick.

To verify that this hen has sour crop, you need to check her first thing in the morning before she eats anything. Can you go over to Grandma's as soon as you get up? If the crop is still full tomorrow morning, you probably have sour crop to deal with. Here's a rundown on all the crop issues and how to tell what you have and how to treat them. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

You don't want to massage a sour crop. You don't want to hold the hen upside down and make her vomit, either. These things risk the hen aspirating sour fluid into her lungs. Then you would have a dead chicken.
