EMERGENCY!!!(well not really?)button quail and cotournix quail!

Ok.... second of all... one of its feet is Brocken.... it’s bending weird.... I’m sure it’s brocken since it screams every time he steps on it... so I splinted it... here’s hoping it will be fine...

My girls or boys sleeping together while the buttons are iether underneath or behind them( sometimes it’s both!)

I wrapped its leg in carton as splints and added a cord around to keep it sit... until it’s ready to move again...

If they are not hurting each other they should be fine. I mix ages/sizes. I’ve mixed about 1-2 weeks apart.

Newborns I keep separate til they catch up a bit unless they are far in age. So if I have 5 1 week olds and 5 2 week olds I would mix them. If that makes sense... I would just keep track of who is what age for you, know, harvesting reasons. Mine all seem to get along pretty good. I’ve mixed 3 week olds with 5 week olds as well but I separated out the older males first just to be sure they wouldn’t mature into nasty little buggers with the girls... lol

But buttons and Coturnix are different so you can tell them apart pretty easy I would think, once mine are a certain age I can’t tell them apart except male/female unless I band them, or like the past few hatches one from each turned out to have a different pattern than normal Coturnix brown. I can tell them apart quite easy.

Sorry I’m rambling.... I’ll be quiet now.
