I saw emu eggs on my local craigslist for $5.00 each just yesterday. Though they didnt guarantee fertility. These babies are HUGE. Didnt think they would fit in my bator.

sw,
We have a health food type grocery store chain in my area and it's called Whole Foods. Ever heard of it? They also sell ostrich eggs, duck eggs and free range chicken eggs. You wouldn't believe the price for one chicken egg!! Something like $1.25 each! I felt soo smug when I saw that.

P.S. If you want to send me $20 for an emu egg + shipping, I'll get'cha one!

they started laying now as it is the mating season. otherwise the eggs dont come regularly. shes still laying at this moment. were gonna try our hardest to incubate them correctly. its had its almost a 60 day incubation period. so many things can go wrong during those days. i will post pics of eggs soon!

Ohhhh my !!! I want one, LOL !!!! That is so pretty !! The blue is just amazing !!! Do they lay an egg everyday ? Can you eat the eggs ?

This one only lays in early spring. I eat the contents of the eggs.
If you look close at the pic of the egg you will see a small white spot at the very bottom, that is a hole I drilled, along with another one at the other end. I then use a wire bent in the shape of an L, insert it in one end of the egg and twist it to break up trhe yoke. Using very low pressure I blow the egg contents into a bowl. Some of the empty eggs are given to friends childern and grandchildern to show at school and some are sold to craft people who etch and carve sceens on them
