When should I stop turning my eggs? One of them is on day 47, at 96.6 degrees.

Also, I was wondering if it's ok to feed MEDICATED peasant and turkey starter (25 percent protein) to emu chicks.

Its a good sign if they roll to one side. You should turn them until they internally pip, then lay them on the side the "want" to be on. You shouldnt feed emus medicated started.

Ok , cool, I picked up some NON medicated chick/fowl starter today. How will I be able to know when they internally pip? I didn't think candling worked but maybe there is a other way. I just stopped turning my first egg yesterday ) I don't know if they piped or not) I was just told to by day 48 to stop turning them. hope I haven't screwed anything up : /

You can tap test the eggs or if you listen closely you can hear the chick moving around since it broke into the air sac. If you're incubating at 97.5 stopping at day 48 should be fine. If you're doing a lower temperature then the hatch date can vary a lot so thats why you wait until internal pip.

Half way I had it turned up to 97.5, then I turned it down to 96.5-97 degrees. Ugg, Just praying it all works out.

I wouldn't worry, you did high temperatures, it should hatch soon!

Well last night I checked for the internal pip, and the little guy/girl was peeping and scratching and wiggling around in the egg! So I think it's not far behind before the hatch!! Thank you very much for the tips.

It's SO exciting to be reading along with everyone's adventures! I have 36 eggs on day 32 and another 12 on day 11. I've been weighing them weekly and tracking their progress. I hope we have a good hatch rate!
