Encouraging young chickens to head into the roost at night

Obviously some chickens are more stubborn than others. I bribe mine to go in before dark by giving them a light and treats so I can shut the door. I don't catch them and put them inside anymore.Maybe they've trained me instead?

Lol true enough .... mine get cooked egg yolks with some herbs and soldier flies and whatever yummy is in season. I may be trained but as it leads to 3 min bedtime i will accept it!

We have young guineas who don't like a dark coop so we have pop lights and we give everyone a snack so they come home at night. We also built an additional roost so everyone has a place. I too have been trained by my feathery overlords.

Put a box, where they are huddling, they will huddle in the box, put the box in the coop. Easy. Then after a couple of days leave the box in the coop. They will be there.
