Roosting outside in Freezing weather

So tonight we have two less roosters, and netting stapled under the rafters. This afternoon I locked them in the coop so I could do the work, let's see if they go in on their own tomorrow...

Yes! All inside tonight. How long should I leave the netting on? Will a week be enough? How long does it take a chicken to form new habits? Those outside roosts are mighty attractive!

Leave it up permanently....or they'll go back up there eventually.

x2. If it's not possible, then leave it a couple weeks, and hope for the best. But if there's some place the chickens like to get into, they'll usually want to get back in there, even if you close it off for a while.

MVH - Any updates? I've got a bunch of chickens that are doing similar but roosting in spruce trees near instead of going in the coop. I"ve also got a couple of hens that hatched 3 chicks and are sharing hen duties. They were going in but recently they are sleeping outside on a roost (which I could take down). It's getting to -6'c around here.
