End of day 22?

Pics
Yeah, toss it.
Yeah, toss it.
Here’s a “good” egg for comparison. I assisted this sebright that was malpositioned, it was trying its darnedest to pip through that membrane but it was so tangled up with its legs it couldn’t reach. But see how tight to the chick the membrane is, and the veins? (And of course, it was kicking and wiggling all over).View attachment 2393420

Omg what do I do now?

That’s the one that you opened that looked developed and just posted, or another one?
Leave it in. :) you can put coconut oil or antibiotic ointment (without pain relief) on the membrane to keep it from drying out. Thats what you want to see! (ETA the movement I mean) (Which egg is that from your candling pics?)

It was the next one. The previous one looks well developed but no movement. What else can I do to prevent it drying out?

Ah ok. That’s ok, it’s better to know and not have tossed a good egg.
Keep the humidity up, and apply the ointment or oil whenever it looks like it’s starting to dry out. I usually stretched it about 6-8 hours if I could keep the humidity high enough but you may need to apply more often. There’s no exact time frame for that.
If it internally pips, just be careful and don’t put any oil or ointment anywhere near the beak so it can continue to breathe.
Great job!

I saw your post earlier this evening, and just came back to see this... I have never assisted a hatch so can’t help but I’m very keen to see how your little guy progresses! Well done for being brave enough to assist... hopefully with your help, it’ll hatch 🐣

Is there a chance this chick might have hatched normally? I really didn't think any were still alive. Will it pip at the part that is now exposed? I haven't for that oil or ointment. Can I use anything else. I soooo want this chick to live as I have one other x

I was waiting on 11 eggs and 10 of them were long gone, so at least they are out of the way!

Hard to say. It may also still quit on you, but movement is good! You can visualize where things are better if you put something on the membrane. It’ll give you an idea if it’s positioned correctly. Olive oil works too, just doesn’t last as long. I’ve also used eye lubricant in a pinch. Just plain stuff though, without any added ingredients.

I'll use OO and a cotton bud. Where should the beak be?
