END OF FEB. HATCH-ALONG, ANYONE?

too bad about the roo...funny about the silkie! i hope he's good for you! my silkie and silkie mix roosters have always been super sweet, maybe some of my luck will transfer over to you!

I go into lock down tomorrow with my Gerry Farms birthday eggs. I was asked what I wanted for my birthday in January and I said Marans and Lavender Ameraucan's. So I emailed Nancy and ordered both. So far it is gone great. Out of the 23 eggs that I set 18 are growing strong. I ordered from Nancy (Bargin on her) because of her quality of birds and it was a great choose. I hope they all hatch what a birthday gift. Now to tell the BF how many should hatch, he's already dreading the fact I may need a bigger coop. I wish everyone luck in the hatch. AND AWAY WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going in to lockdown tonight! Candled yesterday and had 22 out of 28 moving for sure. Out of the unsure eggs only two are for sure no good the other four look to be developed but I couldn't see any movement. Fuzzies in 3 days or less! Happy hatching all!

Good luck Tdub! Hearing people hitting lockdown is making me more anxious for the next week to pass! Locking down this weekend. :)

Thanks, just got done with it and I recandled the questionable ones and three of them were moving, must have just been shy yesterday! Hopefully all 25 that are still good hatch!

i candled one last time today before lockdown tomorrow and my five fertile eggs are going strong! my roo is finished molting to i'm hoping his fertility is back up. i set a 'test egg' today and if all goes well i'll try again!

Quick question: I set my eggs about midnight or 1am Wednesday the 8th. I'm planning to lockdown about midnight Saturday (25th). I am trying to decide if I should just leave them in our turner (the incubator is home made from an ice chest). The turner sits up a ways. It does take up room and maybe will be a problem for chicks getting stuck or falling? But my concerns was at the last hatch attempt (that didn't go well for a few reasons- we have made adjustments) the temperature was lower on the floor then in the turner. The fan is circulating air better but it still appears to be a bit less consistent temperature on the floor. Here is a pic of the setup. Advice?

I would at least try to fill the gaps between the egg box and the walls of the incubator so the chicks don't get stuck in there. Maybe you could stuff the gaps with dry dish towels?

No sign of little chickies for me yet. Lockdown was Tuesday and all the babies were still active during that last candling. Humidity and temp holding well.

i hear peeping but no pips yet!

i accidently dropped one. it only has a hairline crack at the small end, it didn't pierce the membrane. what to do about that? i put a piece of band-aid over it for now.

Thanks chevynova- maybe I'll do that. I'm worried about changing anything too much since they have made it this far!
Tinychick- an egg with a bandaid! That's totally cute! I wonder if you could get tissue glue. It is fairly safe stuff. Tissue glue is used on human wounds in the medical field (super glue is not the same thing- different base). Hmmmmm.......
