Good lord that alot of eggs. But I see most are bantam that helps alot. Around here large fowl or what sell the most since its farm country. We do have alot of bantam people too. Went to a show this weekend that is known as a bantam show. Not as many as there was 2 years ago. Not many able to sell their bantam chickens either. I was hanging with GF who was selling some of here breeding mixed large stock. Everyone asked about large breeds she had, no one asked about her bantams while I was there. Sign of the times I guess. One can eat large fowl easier than a bantam. When money is tight you grow your own.

I was actually thinking of putting another dozen eggs in my bator. We really need to increase flock. Unfortunaly I have to wait a few days to gather. I only have 4 to 5 laying a day out of the 8 hens. Two are the moms so that means 6 are laying. I will keep todays and tomorrows and put them in also. That way they will be close together in hatch times.

We have 3 chicks now that were hatch by my two broodies. I know I have one pullet and I think one rooster. Have no idea on third as it is still too young. We plan on keeping everything since we need to restock. Extra roos will go to neibors who have mixed flocks. Luckily I have a good outlet for my culls here. Since everyone wants large breed I can sell them to mixed flock owners.

We need to decrease our flock of chicks. My family already says that the chicks are stinky! The chicks are only 3 weeks old!

That is funny Mrs. Brown. As I type this the one lone chick in house is trying to jump out. I turn AC cooler as it is getting to warm in here. I just opened incubator to let temp drop also as it was almost 100.

I think I might of messed up on the accurite sensor placement. I put if halfway down the side wall instead of higher up or not attaching it to lay in middle of coop. My other two thermometer read 100. They are the one that came with the hovabator and one I had for my reptile (it is just a small plastic disk). Where does everyone else have their thermometers placed that are like the Acurite that has a cord attched sensor that you can stick on?

Hi! Is your AcuRite like the one in this pic?
I just have the probe dangling wherever I want to read air temp (usually at egg height, but in this incubator, I move it to a different spot/shelf whenever I turn eggs).

Yes, that be it. We have had one of those for our house outside temp and it worked so well I bought one for the incubator. I can see why people have so much problem with styerfoam incubators since they are so sensitive to outside air temp. My is reading now 99.3 and will be back to 99.5 by this evening as AC stops kicking in so much. Luckily it is just a short period that it get so hot and AC kicks in alot.

I am due anytime after the 29th. I have four bobwhite quail eggs in my bator. They actually came with the incubator so I am using them as a practice run. I am sure they will be super cute when they hatch. I can't wait to see them.

Mrs.brown :

My thermometer is a cheap springfield thermometer. Are they reliable?

Do not know brand can you give pick please. The one I have you can buy at Lowes.
