Well, you generally don't move them very far on any one day. (I moved it about 8 feet so the chicken tractor was onto new grass). And as long as they can spot the coop they readily head back to it when evening comes. The one time when I moved the coop to the other side of the house, all I had to do was chase them into that yard and as soon as the coop came into site, they all headed right for it. At that point they were getting some "free-range" time in the late afternoons. Later, when they were confined at all times to the tractor (due to kicking up a fuss in my perennial beds) that wasn't even an issue... just needing to get them onto fresh grass..... which was why the coop needed to move every couple of days or so.
