Hi all

I've been on BYC for 8 months but just discovered this thread today and another one for UK members yesterday. The other one is

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655508/uk-member-please-say-hi/40#post_13917280

I imagine there may be more

I think it would be great if there was some way of galvanising them all together, so that we are all in one place, but not sure if that is possible, so I'm subscribing to this thread too.
Is there anyone here from the North East? Haven't had a chance to read back through all 19 pages yet, but will try to find time in the next few days. Just wanted to say, "hello" in the meantime

Best wishes

Barbara

Evening all! Just joined the forum (5mins ago) I live in Moreton In Marsh, Cotswolds. Brand new to chucks, so looking forward to learning from you all! :)

Hi Batch237 and welcome.

The Cotswolds are a beautiful area. You are so lucky to live there.

Have you got some chucks yet and if so, what breeds? It's always great to see photos if you have any? Are you keeping them for egg production, or meat or pets?

Not sure if you are aware of what they refer to on this forum as "Chicken Math" but beware it is seriously addictive. It's not like normal maths where 1+1=2. In chicken maths 1+1=20. I really don't understand how it happens! There are always new breeds tempting you to expand your flock and broodies expanding it for you and before you know where you are, you're absolutely overrun with them! I started out with a trio of leghorns in Jan and now have 40+ despite some losses to illness and dogs. Anyway, don't say you weren't warned!

Good to have you on board and look forward to hearing more about your flock and set up.

Best wishes

Barbara

Hi Barbara, nice to meet you!

Yes, we feel lucky to live here, only been here 3yrs, moved from the West Midlands, we started on 4 girls and now have 8! So I think the chicken maths have started! We have 8 hybrids, firstly they were for pets (my 3yr old loves them) but to be honest we quite like the eggs too! Baking, pickling - you name it we use em!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hopefully...... Here is a pic of my new four hybrids.

Regards,

Nigel
