Enrichment in run

They like to be up so you can give them an old ladder or hang a swing. You can throw straw around the dirt area (if you have grass it will be gone shortly) so they can scratch under it looking for bugs and treats you’ve scattered. It helps with the mud during rain and snow. I use the bales from winter insulation on the north coop wall all spring and summer for this. You can put your compost in a corner if the pen is large enough and they’ll turn it for you. You can offer frozen melon or berries that take longer to eat than seeds or corn. They’ll dig their own dirt baths but you can keep those free of stones and straw. You can talk to them! They love watching me work in the yard and the cats hunt. Best of all, let them free-range, at least a little every evening, so they can explore other edibles and fly short distances. They’ll go back to the coop on their own at dusk.

So far my girls just have their coop, water drinker and feeder.

What else can I do to spice things up and give them something to do?

All ideas welcomed :)

Took PVC and built a square frame, Afterwards, took a branch from a tree and braced it in the run to simulate a real tree branch. my girls love it! I also have 1 in dowels protruding from my 4x4 post that hold up the netting. at night during the summer just about every one of my 26 birds is up high!
