there are no vets in the area with knowledge of birds.... but my regular vet is coming out to do the annual routine to the rest of my kids next week and i will have him take a look.
i hope he gets better. i wormed all the chickens about 3 weeks ago and he did not have this then

Ernie Update.....
gave him his epsom salt bath this morning.... he is really liking his spa treatments
i looked up Bumblefoot treatments and i am going to get some CEH ( calendula, echinecea, hypericum) and try to loosen off some of the black crusty stuff and apply that....
hopefully this helps.
the lump has not gotten any bigger and it may be my imagination but it might have gotten a little smaller since yesterday.
i gave him 2 shots of penicillan in the last 3 days.
do you think i shoud do it every other day, is that too much?? too little ??? how aggresive should i be with that?
thanks you guys

We have had to use epsom salt baths for infection a lot these past two months..not on chickens..BUT..from everything I am reading..frequent 10 minute baths with warm water is what keeps drawing it out. Do it a few times a day if you can. Not only will it break up dead tissue, it will draw out poisons..it will often soften which means you can cut away the dead flesh.

thankyou,
i will give him another soak in a few minutes...
i went to the drug store and they did not carry any of the topical ointment so i will go to the vet tomorrow, hopefully he can help.
what is this i hear about putting honey on it??

RAW unfiltered honey is full of very healthy bacteria..years ago my mom got a massive burn on her hand from the stove...God told her to use honey..and it cleared all up in days..and instantly, no pain. It works!
