errrrr what to do

As some one who works at a vet hospital antifreeze poisioning intentional or unintentional is a horrible way for anything to die. Poisoning is NEVER a clean death and it causes unnecessary suffering for animal. Poisoning is a really underhanded and cowardly way to do deal with a problem dog or cat. If you are afraid for your family and animals then you should say something. Do you honestly think that if that dog is quietly taken care of that it will solve the problem long term? NO. People that are irresponsible dog owners tend to continue to be and their next dog will most likely be out running the neighborhood soon.

thanks citrus dreams i think your right but antifreeze would probably be hard to get him to consume and its not like there gonna have an autopsy done on the dog they can barely afford there rent let alone that kinda expense and all my dogs are in kennels and do not come out unless there on a leash to go hunting

I've been there too... desperate enough to think of using antifreeze (no one wants to teach me how to shoot a gun!). Never done it, though, and I wouldn't recommend it. Too painful.... I agree with citrusdreams. You seem to be worried about your relationship with your father's friend, but this guy is not worried about it at all. Call animal control. Though, speaking from experience, the officer might just tell you to shoot it yourself.

no its not the first time it has been at my house and not the first time ive told them to keep it home and believe me im not a coward just dont feel like dealing with them its not that im not sensitive to the dog i know its not his fault but its still a danger

how about some of my grandmas pills all bundled up in a sausage that way he would get a nice meal before he drifted off to sleep that would be more humane and probably not cause to big a ruckus

Or you could call animal control and have them come get the animal, so it can find a good home somewhere else. If his family is financially strapped, then maybe they wouldn't be able to pay the fee to get him out of animal control.

Or call the German Shepherd rescue and have them come get him.

ok if he is loose tomorrow if the note doesnt work i will call animal control and tell the officer i think i have to call the sherrif here anyway i will tell him that its a dead dog if it comes back and that should be reason enough for them to keep it home if not than they must not care and its one less dog out breeding and tearing trash and making life difficult making me uncomfortable on my own property and i will ask my father to come over and talk to them but this is kinda rediculous that i am put out by a dog

LIfe is precious and neighbors tend to stay around
Fences make for good neighbors
Try everything else first to keep the peace
it sounds like you were scared and frustrated and want a quick solution
just consider, what if it was your animals that were acting up? wouldn't you want a chance to fix the situation?

Disposing of someone's pet should be a last resort. Try talking, animal control, fences, paint ball guns, reinforced coops, more talking, other people talking, cops, more animal control, dog rescue groups.

People who don't have chickens don't get it
it can take a few conversations for them to realize they have to do something different
bailing their dog out of animal control will help make it a problem for them, not just you

I always worry that harsh actions will lead to escalation from others as well
There is usually a different way and lots of people here will try to help you figure it out if you want

electric fences are awesome deterents and keep everyone safer
reinforce your run and coop so they can't get in or put an electric barrier between the dog and your chicks

it's up to us to protect our chickens by giving them a safe place to live
this is a bummer to have to deal with
we will all be rooting for you
good luck!

If that dog has the ballz to bark at your face in your own yard,..not HIS yard. Then..hes a dog you need to be worried about. He has the potential to bite yoU. I'd not take any chances with this dog at all.. he's too brave ...IMO.

ALSO..i would NOT give a flying %%^^& if i upset my dads friends. They need to keep the dog out of your yard.. period.
