So this morning, just like any other weekend morning, I got up to let the dogs out at the “request” of my gf. Just as I was about to open the door i saw some birds walking around by the deck. I didn’t have my contacts in yet, and seeing as our geese free range, I assumed it was them with their babies. Upon further inspection I realized it was my bronze WE cock, and went into sheer panic mode. I hurried to put clothes on and raced to recapture them. We quickly caught him and one of his hens. After searching for about an hour we could not find our bronze BS WE hen and our purple hen. Somehow the gate to our aviary was open, and I checked it upon getting home at 9pm last night. After a bit we heard clucks and honks, and found them across the street at the top of the hill in the neighbors yard. I caught one but the other snuck off into the woods. She has been there all day and I’ve managed to locate her a time or 2, only to have her disappear shortly after. I wouldn’t be to worried about her coming home, but we’ve only had her about 5 weeks and she’s a 2yo. I’m not happy about it, but I realize I’ll probably never catch her again. Any suggestion? Or does anyone have a 2yo purple or cameo hen they’re looking to part with?

Your peacock screams at night ... so she knows where he is. the sound of geese will attract her ... too !
Fox attack ...?

He is a rather quiet peacock. I had to play peacock sounds off YouTube at first to get him to make a single noise. we do have about a dozen geese roaming the yard so that’s good. But she was not at the gate last night and I didn’t find her roosted in the barn this morning. Hopefully she’s back home this evening. I’m not sure if a fox attack is what caused her to be nutty, she acted that way since we got her home. Much different than my other 3

Some birds especially Spauldings are higher strung than others and can take a long time to calm down. We have had both cocks and hens get run off by other free-ranging birds in the yard and be gone for a few days and they came back. Barring predation, there is hope your bird will come home.
