Last year I had a young hen that was socially unacceptable, she thought she had the run of everyone and everything until a yearling cock ran her off the property. We found her hanging around about 3/4 of a mile away. She had been tame enough to feed by hand but she had lost all interest in being friendly after almost a week of being out on her own. I spent a couple of hours trying to walk her home slowly but every time we got about half way home she would fly back to where we found her. All I could do is say, 'Well, we tried.' Two days later she was at the pen gate wanting in to eat. Two miles is a far piece and she may be lost but it couldn't hurt to get within earshot of her and play recordings of a cock calling or a hen honking her location noise and lead her back home just out of sight.
