ESCONDIDO CALIFORNIA- - ordinance changed to allow chickens

NEWS FLASH .... As of July 23, 2012 the city of Escondido, California residents can have up to 6 hens in R-1 zones

no roosters though - that means I'll get into trouble for having roosters, cause I love the way they sound...

I'm in an R1 zone here in Escondido and have proudly adopted 5 chickens and 1 Roo -- I gave the Roo away as I don't want to get into any trouble with code enforcement. So very happy with my new girls!!!

I just set up my 3 6-week-old girls in their new coop today! In about a month we are getting our fence raised up to 6 feet and they'll be allowed to free range. Hoping they won't completely destroy my yard, but I know it will be a live-and-learn process. Hello fellow Escondidans

Does anyone know if the city ordinance overrides any cc&rs? There is no language in the CC&Rs saying it defers to local code.
