Essential Viewing.....Chicken Playing the Piano!

Wow! Now I want one of those light up keyboards for Bubbles! She's our local celebrity chicken and accompanies me to the schools when we teach incubation/embryology every spring. She does several "tricks" to the delight of all the students. No problem in a classroom setting, but I doubt she could handle the distractions of a huge audience & all the lights. The owners did a good job training against distractions.

Here's how my daughter trained our chicken Bubbles (2nd half of video). After the initial target training, DD trained her to do the card trick & I worked with Bubbles on a funny ? & answer skit.

SMH...silly and kind of sad IMO.
They spent hours and hours and hours training this bird.

For what reason???
.....everyone wants to be an internet star, then get tapped to go to Hollywood.

Keeping back yard chickens has turned from a sustainable food movement into an entertainment/pet obsession...So sad to see what we value in the end.

People have diff opinions, and I still say it's very cool. How people decide to spend their free time is up to them. Why own a pet of you don't enjoy spending hours with them?

Besides, chickens train very easily. Some breeds like our Dom can learn a new trick in 5-15 min. Our orps take a couple sessions, but they're not as naturally curious and would rather cuddle. Chickens learn so much faster than dogs and are very motivated by treats. Training chickens is a great way for people to learn how to train an animal. After working with her chickens, our DD now can help my sister calm her wild & untrained Yorkie.

Training animals can be very rewarding, and is often necessary, and part of learning their behaviors to better care for them. Can be great for kids.
But the piano thing is just been taken to marketing sensationalism, that is what I object too.

So are you saying that just because chickens are "food" animals they can't be pets or entertainment?

Fabulous! She also played it pretty much in time. Did she get voted through to the next round? Does she do other songs?

I'm going to tell my girls they've got to stop wasting their time eating bugs and get to work!
Totally! Remember, you must make sure they practice.:lau
