Hi everyone I have 4 hens and 5 12 week old pullets that I have been trying to integrate. I built a small box for the pullets to stay in while the older hens got used to them. Today I introduced them to each other and it went relatively well other than a few small squabbles. When it was night time and they all headed up the into coop the older hens started attacking the pullets. What should I do?

Tell us about your coop, dimensions and pics would help.
How many hens?
Where was the 'pullet box' and how long did they live in there before you let them meet?

Roosting time is the most contentious time of the day.
Thanks for the response. The coop is 4×6 feet I'll take some pictures tomorrow it has one perch. The perch is a bit shorter than 6 feet. There are 4 hens. The pullet box is in the yard that the hens are in all day. The pullets were in the box for 3 days before we let them meet.

You don't have enough roost space and your coop is small for the number of birds. 9 birds = 9 feet of roost, and probably more than that (i.e. a 2nd roost would be advisable) during integration when it's natural for the dominant birds to chase off the others.

You did a total of 3 days of see but don't touch? Or is it 3 days of face to face interaction without a fence? See but don't touch should be closer to 1-2 weeks, and then I'd recommend another week or so of face to face interaction before attempting to coop them together OR you need to split up the coop space so the pullets have a separated space to use.
