That's Lucille, who is supposed to be a Golden Comet...except I was sold two of them at the same time (along with these two "Welsummer Pullets") and they look so different from one another I have no idea what is what anymore. :idunno

Okay thanks for clarifying! So, is red sex link basically just an umbrella term for all these other mixed breeds I'm hearing them called? I've heard red comet, red star, golden comet, cinnamon Queens....I'm sure a few others.....red sex links and production reds.....are they all synonymous with ""reddish toned sex linked crossbred mutt"?

:goodpost:
It is general term. It is not as simple as saying all of them are the same. cinnamon queens are not the same as golden comets. Different breeds are crossed to get coloring that identifies gender at hatch:

Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me figure this all out!! :yesss:

Agreed. They are all considered Red Sexlinks. But different breeds are used and they are called different names depending on what hatchery they came from. Most every hatchery has their own type of Red Sexlinks.

Yes! I did post that?

Not all read sex links are super egg layers depending on the breeds used. Hatchery versions will be good egg layers but some of the home bred ones many not be
