I'm having the hardest time with it and I don't know why. It should be really simple, but for some reason, things are not coming out the exact size they should be and they won't lay flat when put together.
I have to "unsew" quite a few things.
I think after some checking that my eyes are the cause of my trouble. I'm either not seeing the ruler properly or I'm cutting all the pieces too close. I have to redo some of the 4 patch squares, but I'll get it done (with a little frustration along the way). I'm on the 5th block of the 9.
ETA: I'm up to 7 blocks finished as of Wed at 1 p.m., but man, I dread seeing how they come together. My eyesight must be so off lately.
I have three rows of three blocks each joined. I'm taking a break before sewing the strips together. They aren't perfect, not all points come together precisely, but I love the overall effect. I arranged the blocks so the colors would be in rows, diagonally if you know what I mean.
I have one final border to sew on, then a decision to make. I don't know what to do with it! I have no idea why I made it other than to create something cool with a bunch of the awesome fabric Kathy sent (and use some I had around here that matched the mood). I can't decide if I want to keep it, sell it or maybe even gift the top to someone. If I decide to sell it, I need to quilt it by hand. Thank goodness it's only about 54" square! I have other projects I want to do, too--the chicken block lap quilt the staff did as a swap at the end of last year, an Attic Windows with some awesome city nights scene fabric I have in my stash, etc. So many projects, so little finger power!
I'll finish the border, miter the corners and photograph it tomorrow. There are a couple areas that do not match up perfectly, but after all the trouble I had making measurement mistakes, I'm lucky it came together as well as it did so decided not to try to fix them and risk stretching or puckering the top too badly.
