Dude Looked Like a Lady to me!

My first EO hatched. Yay!

I think it has a bit of unabsorbed yolk. There are no other chicks in the bator, just eggs. Should I just leave it and hope for the best?

It has a black dot on it's head and a little bit of balck on it wings. Still drying off and figuring out what to do. It has a heavy head.

a wise young old man told me dontopenitdontopenitdontopenit. it will be fine in there the next 2 days and soon you'll have lots of eggs pipping and hatching. think of it as a pioneer!

Definitely leave the bator closed. Chick will be just fine. Don't even consider opening until late tomorrow evening.

Nerve wracking, isn't it! Hang in there.

EOF appears down again, grrrr.

Got to hit the sack, now. You'll have more chicks in the morning.

2 EO babies.
One with 2 black spots on it's head and some crooked toes. (going to make a boot for it when the other one is totally dry)
The other one is small but seems stronger right after hatch. good feet. It is still drying but looks to have a reddish tint on the shoulders.

No other pipping. I figured I'd keep the bator on until tomorrow morning and if there are no signs of pips then I'm going to figure that's it.

MD, I'm already trying to figure out how to get more egg or maybe day olds from James. If not, maybe our friends from the north will bring some eggs in March.

How many we're fertile?

James, out of 8, 7 were fertile. Your eggs were great and shipping excellent. It was my inexperience in hatching that caused such a low hatch rate.

I ordered 2 Brinsea Spot Check Thermometer today. I can't wait to try again.

The two babies are doing great. EOs are a hardy bunch. Couple of black spots on the top of the first ones head. Looks like I took a marker to it. :D

edited to add pictures correctly.
