Laingcroft, I enjoyed your blog, and all of your chicks are adorable! I'm really curious to see the Greenfire Farms chicks as well. As they grow, you'll have to tell us about the two groups.

Happy hatching, everyone! I can't wait to get there myself.

Hi. Was wondering if anyone could answer my question. I have found a breeder of these
Euskal Oiloa chickens not 10 minutes from my very own door! They are selling a doz. hatching eggs at $25 . Is this a good price?? ARE these chickens a good layer breed? Or what are their main purpose?? I AM SO GETTING AN INCUBATOR SOONER OR LATER!!!!

If they are true EOs that would be a great price. Yes, they are great layers. Where do you live. We have been trying to find others with these birds. Up until the end of last year we only knew of 2 people in the US with them. Skyline and Greenfire.

Bayvistafarm is from Canada

Not sure if I am supposed to reply, or start a new page.. but here goes!
Very new here. From Hamilton, Ontario, Canada! This site looks amazing!

I will be sure to get some then. I googled the breed, and looked at them here, and then checked her website (which I didn't save darn it.. but I know where they live). They just offered 8 Ameraucana x Basque chicks 3 weeks old, for $2 each!!!!!!! Missed out on that deal, because I am not set up for chicks this time of year, but as I was working out a solution, they were gone!! She sells that cross in eggs too, $10 doz.

Thanks for your info. I will be sure to nab some of those eggs!!

So far 9 of my 15 EOs from Skyline have hatched - gorgeous healthy, strong chicks. Some more pips this morning...hoping for several more healthy babies!

I would highly recommend Skyline for their EO eggs - all 15 of mine made it to lockdown, which is unheard of with shipped eggs. And these little guys look very strong and healthy. I would also recommend Cheryl at Omelet Ranch - her birds are GORGEOUS. (And all eggs I have received from her have had 100% fertility)

Stay tuned for the "peep show" - pics of my EOs coming (provided I can figure out how to upload...oh that)
