I agree that a whole lot of vets take full advantage of people. I use to go to a certain vet office and it was great, small nice place with two great vets and wonderful staff. The last time I went they have built a HUGE new office that would rival a hospital, hired a bunch of new vets and staff. No doubt they made and are making the money to pay for that place off of people who have put the value of animals even with and sometimes above the value of people. A lot of us have got to where we will pay any price to "fix" our pets and the vets have taken full advantage of that. That and there are the animal right crowd who try to shame you if you don't treat and care for your dog/cat/rat like it is one of your children. During the winter I am always amazed by the weathermen/weatherwomen on the local TV station who warn people to "bring their animals inside because it is going to get down to freezing tonight!!". Ohh my gosh, where will I put the cows!?!?!?! How on earth am I going to round up the deer!?!?!?!? Get real - they are animals, they have fur, God made them that way for a reason! Pardon me, the world has gone crazy and it just gets to me now and then. But yes I am guilty too of putting more money and feelings into my animals than I should too. The vets are making the most of it.
I'm really sorry about your dog. I have cried my eyes out over a many.
