I think we already have at least 4 inches! Maybe more. How is it your way?

It is coming down pretty hard right now. When John measured here around noon he only got 2 inches, but Colton called a bit ago and said we have every bit of 4 at home. That crazy kid went out and cut 2 loads of wood this morning because he is bored. Now he is sitting in the living room playing with Jasper. Hubby called me this morning to tell me he thinks Jasper is sick. I ask why. "Because he wouldn't get out of his cage this morning." Well, duh!! I wouldn't have left my bed if it wasn't totally necessary this morning either!!

I sure hope that's why he didn't want to get up this morning! Keep an eye on him! Where is everyone today?

I'm heeeeerrreeee......!!!

The floods are really really bad right now. I'm actually a bit scared. I drive for work and the floods were so bad I almost didn't make it to my destinations. I have no work on this week but my husband went back to work and we're set so that's a relief - but I worry if the floods continue.

Hey how bad does this idea sound:

My husband's AWESOME boss (who really is awesome) wants to rent us his house with 3 acres in 6 months. He said we can do wtfever to it as long as he gets to build a huge shed out back for my hubby to work in. Meaning my husband will WORK from HOME. This also means: dairy cows, fresh goat and roosters.

However.... you know that old saying "don't ____ where you eat?" This seems exactly that. My husband said he would absolutely not work in his time off even if he was home and the boss agreed - but I kinda know this guy. He tried to get my man to RIDE HIS BIKE (because he can't legally drive right now) the TEN MILES to work EVERY DAY over Christmas to 'check on it' to make sure nobody robbed it. Granted he has $800k trucks in that shed, but it's my man's holiday!! My man didn't end up doing it - but it's still the type of requests his boss makes.

But his boss, in return for the shed, will lower the rent to nearly HALF what we're paying for our FURTHER FROM THE CITY 800sq metre block.

The property he wants us to rent is quite expensive for location/size. We'd be getting it quite possible for 1/4th the actual value.

TORN!

Hi Elizabeth! I say if the boss is as awesome as you say, you can probably work things out. Can't you have the boss make up a rental agreement apart from your husbands work?

Edited to say...sorry you are having so much trouble with floods! That has to be scary!

One of my American friends said the Weather Channel over there called our floods 'Biblical'.... niiiice. The road just 10 miles up got closed. I can't get some chickens I was planning because all the roads to the farms are flooded. Some roads have floated away entirely. (They found an entire STRETCH of road about 50' long in someone's HORSE PADDOCK! It just came up off the road and went byebye down the floodgate)

I'm pretty sure we're going to do a rental agreement but I'm not sure how legal a subarticle with the line, "As long as the tennants don't have to work excess hours" is! Hahahaha.

He IS a fantastic guy, but he's paranoid. He has a ton of surveillance cams and on-call security... etc etc. At least I'd have a safe home, I guess!!!

I just... really really want acreage...close to the city... half the price.... property owner doesn't care what animals we have.... it sounds like a dream if it wasn't "renting from your boss"!!

But my man IS the foreman at this workshop right below the boss AND he has been working here something like 5 years; so we've got that.

Nervous! How are you today?

I'm good. It's snowing to beat the band here and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon! I have a pork roast and potatoes in the crock pot for when I get home. I am going to huddle up in front of the fire and try to stay warm!

I hope everything works out for you. It is wonderful having property to play with!
