Cool weathervane! I have a chicken one and a cow one. Bought them at garage sales before we even had the farm! Someone just needs to climb up on the barn and put one of them up!
Wind chill for tomorrow night is 30 BELOW!!!! Bundle up Michelle!

I love Hobby Lobby!! Thanks Algopurple!

RIR....glad you are enjoying your eggs!

That sounds like how it goes around here!

I was just beginning to worry about you! You said earlier about going to dig out your chicken coop and we hadn't heard from you for a while! The temp here is actually warmer today too, but will drop like a rock in a hurry! It was 9 degrees this morning and we were all commenting on how much warmer it was! Now, that my friend, is a sad day!

I will have to take a pic of Thunder by the fireplace. It is so much bigger than his little heater he was using, so he thinks he really hit the jackpot! Today was supposed to be his first full day at home alone since Christmas break started, but Colton went home early. Maybe he will turn it on for him. It is cozy looking and seems to throw out quite a bit of heat. I couldn't tell for sure last night since the dryer had been running all day warming up the living room too and hubby home stuffing wood in the stove. I do know Thunder was quite content in front of it.

I just finished my soup for lunch and enjoying some frosted animal cookies for dessert!

I am most certainly going to make her shovel! She even told Colton if he would come get her at 3 (when she gets off work) she will help him with the wood! I don't know what has gotten into her. If I had known getting insulated bibs inspired her to work outside, I would have gotten them a long time ago!

It has turned to a light steady snow now.

Don't tell my Husband that, he will be buying me a pair! I did just get inside from shoveling part of the chicken run out. I had to clear out in front of the doors anyway and the "chickens" (pun intended) won't walk on the snow! So I dug down to the ground for them.

My chickens won't walk in the snow either! I go to open the door and latch it back in the run. I'm inside with the girls and they are all around my feet. I open the door to start out. The girls in the front stop dead in their tracks when they see the snow. Then there is a pile up behind them and then there is me stumbling out head first to keep from stepping on everyone!!

I don't know about there, but here they have to take a driving test every single year to renew their license to drive the bus if they are over 70. But still, at that age something could happen so fast at any time. I was never so glad to get my kids off the bus. Now the worry of a new driver (Colton) on these winter roads. He has impressed me on how well he has done. My mom was and still is the type that if there was even snow in the forecast she wouldn't let me drive anywhere. Therefore, when I got out on my own, I had no idea how to and was scared to death to do it. I am better now, but if I have the option, I will just let hubby tote me around!

I haven't yet, because I still had some of mom's veggie soup in the freezer, but I wrote down your recipe and Des agrees that it sounds yummy! I just had a can of one of my childhood faves, chicken and stars and Des had tomato. We stayed at the station for lunch and keep food handy for occasions like this. Jimmie chuckled and shook his head this morning when us 3 girls climbed in the car with our bags of supplies, coats, coveralls, boots, etc. There was hardly room for us to get in!

ladies, so sorry to hear you all struggling with the snow and cold. I have never ever lived in place where the weather went below 0 that just sounds insane to me. Basically in that weather you don't really need a fridge. So how many jackets do you have to wear to be able to stand that cold? I figure well at least you guys don't have to worry about water shortages and earthquakes. So there is a plus to living in your neck of the woods.

My chickens try to eat the snow on their way out so they don't have to step on it. Needless to say, they haven't gotten very far!
