How close is it? I have been known to chip away at the shell a little if I think they need help. Just be sure to STOP if you see blood!

There are a few fairly large pieces that I really want to get out of his way. I would say he is close to half way out. He seems to have zipped backwards. He went towards the floor. I thought he was dead this morning so I turned the egg slightly towards the top of the bator. Then I saw his little beak moving.

You might want to wait on Natalie's response, but I would be picking away at that thing to see if I could help!

eta--Of course, I was too late, again!

The big 3 went out to their new house yesterday. Kenny likes the Guineas better than the chickens. He even went down and let them out this morning before I had a chance. They are out our back door and on the other side of the garden. I took some pics yesterday I need to post for you girls soon.

We moved our turkeys out yesterday too. Of course, a little storm blew through last night but they looked happy this morning!

My hubby is the one that insisted on getting guineas. He prefers them over the other birds too and is their primary care giver. Tonna said one of her guineas is sitting on about 30 eggs, mine haven't laid a one yet!

How long ar they supposed to incubate for ?-?never hatch a keet- but the incuabting is all the same--if it is overdue ...then yes I would help but again be preparred for "something" to be wrong with the chick because there usually is something wrong if they can't get out themselves-yolk not absorbed deformaties ect...break away part of the shell where the yolk sac should be-if you see blood stop and put back in ...other wise you said it zipped half way? so if the zip is half way around egg or more-break it in half carefully so the chick head and shoulders are exposed and put back in bator

Also keep in mind that with the temps dropping last week, it may delay the hatch too, wouldn't it Natalie? But I would think after 2 days, due or not, that little feller needs some help!

Do what Nat said and hurry back to tell us how it went!

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend! We went to the city wide garage sale Sat morning but the off and on showers killed it. Then sis and I went to get coffee. When she pulled into the parking spot, her foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas! We rammed the car ahead of us! I just sat there kinda shocked. It just dented their bumper but messed us my sis's van. Broke out the headlight and blinkerlight. Dented the hood, quarter panel and bumper. We are both ok...I told her that's why they call them accidents! And, that's why we have insurance. Her foot was wet and just slid off the brake. Really freaked us both out.
DH and I went to the Elks lodge Sat night and met some friends for dinner. Then Sunday, went to the Osceola cheese factory and stocked up! (Love that place!) Went driving around looking for wild asparagus, then went home where I fixed fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and fresh asparagus! It was yummy! Let the chickens out to roam finally Sunday. They have been in jail since scratching up my newly planted garden. Funny.....none of them went near the garden! Do you think they knew?? They were all standing around the back porch as I was frying chicken but I assured them it was no one they knew! Anyway....That...in a nut shell, was my weekend.

Chickenchick.....How are your peeps? Did you help the one get out? Please keep us informed!!!

Michelle.....Great job on the smoking! You can do it....Just keep in mind...you control the cigarettes....they don't control you....And..I will take my own advice soon!! Lol!

Ny! How is everything in your neck of the woods? Are you getting alot of rain yet?

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, for the most part. I am sorry to hear about the accident. It would have scared me too! But, things happen.

to you and your sis.

That is funny about the fried chicken, they had every right to be nervous about it!
