The big 3 went out to their new house yesterday. Kenny likes the Guineas better than the chickens. He even went down and let them out this morning before I had a chance. They are out our back door and on the other side of the garden. I took some pics yesterday I need to post for you girls soon.

How long ar they supposed to incubate for ?-?never hatch a keet- but the incuabting is all the same--if it is overdue ...then yes I would help but again be preparred for "something" to be wrong with the chick because there usually is something wrong if they can't get out themselves-yolk not absorbed deformaties ect...break away part of the shell where the yolk sac should be-if you see blood stop and put back in ...other wise you said it zipped half way? so if the zip is half way around egg or more-break it in half carefully so the chick head and shoulders are exposed and put back in bator

According t this book I have they are to start pipping on day 26. Which means this one pipped early, even with my temp issues. Saturday was the 25th day and he pipped sometime after I went to bed on the 24th day. Incubation period says 28/29 days. Also says they can take up to 3 days. But the baby I have hatched took only about 12 hours plus.

It is still working and making a little progress. I havent helped yet, but I have to sit on my hands to keep from doing it. I am thinking maybe I should remove the bigger pieces, very carefully. I have never helped a chick out before

If he/she/ is moving and you can see that they zipped and they are breathing fresh air-and are NOT shrink wrapped-then dont touch them:-) They will hatch on their own or something is wrong with the chickie!

We moved our turkeys out yesterday too. Of course, a little storm blew through last night but they looked happy this morning!

My hubby is the one that insisted on getting guineas. He prefers them over the other birds too and is their primary care giver. Tonna said one of her guineas is sitting on about 30 eggs, mine haven't laid a one yet!

pics!

What is it with hubbys and Guineas?! He was holding the little baby this morning! Tonna has 30 eggs! Did your decide to go on vacation? Just kidding! I am glad your turkeys did good their first night out. I always worry the first few nights. Especially this time with a new "house" and run. It is a pretty cool redneck setup! You will love these pics( when I finally get them on here!). It consists of an old dog kennel and our ice house converted in to a g house! Kenny built it the first winter we were together so I was sad about converting it but truth be told we won't use it. We still fish but it has turned in to this sort of group thing

instead of a family thing. Raymond doesn't tolerate the cold ( or extreme heat) anymore and it is just to heavy for the 2 of us to move. Oh well! The g love it!

Ok. You have convinced me to leave it alone. I can see its beak moving and it is partially zipped so it is breathing fresh air. I will keep you all posted and THANK YOU for all your help and well wishes!

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, for the most part. I am sorry to hear about the accident. It would have scared me too! But, things happen.

to you and your sis.

That is funny about the fried chicken, they had every right to be nervous about it!

I am sorry about your Garage sale day! I was so excited for you. I bet you and sis were shook up! I would have been but thank goodness you are both safe and sound.

I love the fried chicken story

When Kenny BBQs chicken he taunts the girls. This could be you!! Of course it couldn't be as we don't eat our birds. Aside from the accident it sounds like you had a nice weekend.

It took me a minute to realize your ice house is a fishing hut to use on an iced over lake, Right? Just reading it I thought...wow, they built a house just for their ice!!

Isn't an ice house also something they used to call the old buildings they used to store meat before fridges? I think hubby's aunt and uncle have one on their property. That is what I had in mind until she talked about fishing and moving it!

Ok you goofy girls! This an ice house. Ours has 3 holes in the floor for fishing through. It also has a bench for sitting and a door on each end.

This is the set up! Cash is guarding them I guess

Here is their door from inside the run.

Ginger and Rocky checking it out. The extension cord is running the ceramic heater. The cord is across the garden. So something will have to change there!

The inside before I added straw, food and water.
